We live in such an exciting time when science is finally catching up to what ancient wisdom teachings and our own intuition have known all along. I loved reading this recent front page headline from The New York Times:

“Research confirms our deepest intuition: Human connection lies at the heart of human well-being.”

This kind of research and science supports us to more easily trust our intuition and let go of our minds insatiable hunger to know what is ultimately unknowable. We can choose instead to bring our attention to the heart, the seat of our intuitive intelligence. Intentionally focusing on the feeling qualities of the heart has been shown by science to positively effect the functioning of the mind (brain).

To the heart, all life experiences are of equal value. The heart does not judge things as good or bad, right or wrong but trusts that all of our experience is an opportunity to expand our human capacity. It is both exciting and deeply calming to see all the ways duality/polarity is dissolving into unity on the planet right now as we reclaim the wisdom and knowing our our heart.

“Your Willing Heart”, speaks so eloquently to how, from the perspective of the heart, everything is equal and part of this great mystery of life:

Your Willing Heart

Your willing heart
Loves different
from your mind
It’s stronger
Infinite,
A gift
Blessing
You don’t know this yet but
You are free already
Beyond this world
Every passion exists
as pure light
In the dark muscle
of your own heart,
a beacon
Shining
One day you will Know
And it won’t matter
The same way
It won’t split you apart
Won’t hurt so much
To hold everything
Equal
A mystery
Each burning desire
Is a star already
Lit in your soul
You cannot keep one
Or let one go
Extinction, Creation, Beginning, End
Balance.
One day you will say
From inside the immutable holy cave
Of your willing heart
I am not lost
I was always here
Love and
Everything out there
Inside me
Is mine.

This is quite the leap for our analytical mind, that wants to understand the nature of things, rather then simply open to the experience that life brings. It is not easy for the mind to let go of judging things as right and wrong, good and bad, but our heart, when we are willing to listen to it, shows us the way.

Here is a video, from HeartMath, an organization doing fascinating research on the power of the human heart. It speaks to how we can learn to bring the heart and mind into greater coherence and how the heart can actually support the mind (brain) to function more effectively.

Another one of HeartMath discoveries is:

“The heart generates the largest electromagnetic field in the body. The electrical field as measured in an electrocardiogram (ECG) is about 60 times greater in amplitude than the brain waves recorded in an electroencephalogram (EEG)”

This ‘proves’ irrefutably how the heart is much more powerful then the mind but with a different kind of power, one that patiently waits for us to access its potentials.

We have added a simple, effective practice for ‘Heart Attunement’ to our website as well ‘The History of Partner Yoga’ from the Training Manual, for you to enjoy. You will find these under the ‘About’ tab.

Taking time each day to consciously connect with our heart invites more joy into our lives, contributing to a more peaceful planet.
